LOVE IS ALL ... REMEMBER
A tribute to a dear friend

A message from Tony Mulcahy ...

In December 2007 a very good friend of mine who I grew up with was told that she had lung cancer AND that she has 2yrs maximum.

Christine Ford is a loving mum and will do anything for anybody, this news therefore seemed so unfair but as we all know Cancer has no favourites.  Because of my own personal involvement with a cancer patients in the past (my former wife was diagnosed with cancer back in December 1999 - which spurred me on to doing whatever I could for Cancer Patients - hence my first Engelbert Tribute in 2001).  Christine and I have spent many hours talking and she has become very positive about the situation. She is not going to give in to the disease AND intends to be there at my concert, which I have now decided to dedicate to her.

We read and hear too much about the Cancer Patients who die of this disease but unfortunately hear very little about the many thousand that survive it.  They survive it partly because of their positive attitude and of course their tremendous Courage.

COURAGE, not Cancer ...

I have decided that after witnessing Christines Courage on a daily basis that from this day on the Big "C" should stand for COURAGE not Cancer.  With Courage and Love it can be beaten, the Cancer Patient provides the Courage and the many friends and relatives provide the Love in abundance.

I would ask anyone who reads this website to make contact with Christine and give her their support, AND why not consider meeting up on the night of the concert.

All the money I have raised since January 2000 has been donated to the Cancer Patients Fund at the Queens Hospital here in Burton On Trent. Indeed my efforts, and the efforts of many other Burtonians, have jointly ensured the building of our very own State of the Art Oncology Unit at the Queens Hospital. The Government donated two million to the project whilst the remaining one and a half million was donated by the generous Burtonians through their many various fund raising efforts. A good £9000 of the funds I have raised to date has been raised solely from my last three ENGELBERT tribute Concerts, and I thank all those that have attended my concerts for their continued support.

My next tribute Concert to Engelbert, arranged for July 18th 2009 (next year) is called, "LOVE IS ALL - REMEMBER". The Concert is not only to remember the enjoyment and many  love songs that Enge has brought our way over the years but also to remember the COURAGE of all Cancer patients wherever they may be.
